Board of Directors Meeting

The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and CVB Board of Directors met Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Chairman Joe Loth called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Cynthia Carson provided the opening prayer.


Review of Minutes – Steve Critchfield made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 16, 2022 meeting, and the November 16 meeting of the 2023 board. Phil Cox seconded the motion. All approved. Motion carried.


Financial Report – Treasurer Pam Yancey reviewed the current financials of the organization. Wendy White moved to approve the financial report as presented. Cassie Cunningham seconded the motion. All approved. Motion carried.


Ex-Officio Reports – City of Branson – Alderman Cooper reported the tourism tax marketing contract was unanimously approved in a double read at their December 13 meeting. The contract, with the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber & CVB, is for three-years. A change this year is we will be able to submit marketing expenses for reimbursement earlier in the year, instead of waiting until April 1.
A brief update on Holtz Builders J-1 student housing was provided.


City of Hollister – City Administrator Rick Ziegenfuss shared information about the city’s new app where you can stay up-to-date with news, events, traffic alerts, etc. He also reported progress continues on the Yacht Club property.


The City of Hollister is working with the Taney County Commission for an agreement on the wastewater treatment plant.


Ziegenfuss mentioned that cities now have access to an ordinance that taxes marijuana sales.


2023 Proposed State Legislative Priorities – Public Affairs Chair Cassie Cunningham reviewed the proposed priorities. Pam Yancey moved to approve the 2023 legislative priorities as presented. Wendy White seconded the motion. All approved. Motion carried.


Membership Update – Janet Minor reviewed the report included in the meeting packet. Pam Yancey moved to approve the member drop list as presented. Steve Scherer seconded the motion. All approved. Motion carried.


President/CEO Report – Jason Outman thanked all who attended the Black Tie Gala, which had approximately 750 attendees.


Tax revenues continue to track above 2021.


President Outman reported on recent public relations efforts, sports, meetings and conventions held in Branson and those out of town attended by staff.


2023 Objectives – Cynthia Carson and Pam Yancey touched on these at the Gala. There are six pillars in place, and we plan to start those committees after the first of the year.


A special “Thank You” to Joe Loth for everything he’s done for the organization in his year as chairman.


Chairman’s Report – Chairman Loth thanked everyone for the help, guidance, comments, etc. this year. He feels we work well as a team. Loth recognized outgoing board members; Randy Brashers, Tammy Johnson and Mary Kellogg. He noted Kellogg served two consecutive three-year terms and served as chair of the board in 2021. Mary shared that it is important we challenge each other, help guide this city, and get people involved.
